NATIONAL Safety Swim Association's goal is to work with providers across the country in order to reduce accidental deaths as a result of drowning.Drowning is the leading cause of accidental death in children ages 1 to 4 years old (U.S. Centers for Disease Control). The sad truth is that in most cases, these accidental deaths are 100% preventable. According to the National Institute of Health, swim lessons reduce risk of drowning by 88%. Our goal is to promote swim safety and save lives. NSSA is currently building its database of swim instructors and swim safety providers in order to provide parents with the resources to prevent accidental drowning.
How would your child react alone in the water? The most essential skill NSSA Instructors teach children is to roll from a face-down position in the water to a face-up independent back float. Infants and toddlers cannot turn and raise their heads to take a breath. If your child falls face down into the water, knowing how to roll onto a face-up back float can save a life! If your baby is walking, then he/she must learn to swim to the pool edge or steps, rolling over to breathe whenever air is needed.
Once children learn to roll over to float, relax and breathe whenever air is needed, they can truly swim, stay afloat, conquer fear and experience the joy of swimming.
All NSSA Instructors must be trained by both Red Cross and NSSA Certified Instructors. All NSSA Instructors are required to be fully insured and receive background checks from the schools who are providing instruction. To sign up for lessons in your area please fill out the registration form below and pay the $50 registration fee.

Is there a better gift than the gift of the life saving skills that each NSSA Certified Instructor gives children on a daily basis. NSSA is happy to support 501c3 organizations which promote swim safety. These organizations offer scholarships to under privileged students and pay the expenses of training certified instructors. Donations are also used to promote swim safety in communities across America.
